The Web Site for NFL fans calling for the Impeachment of Commissioner Roger Goodell

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell

ImpeachGoodell.com is a Web site for NFL fans calling for the impeachment of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.  ImpeachGoodell.com finds that Goodell's actions in the Patriots "Spygate" scandal to be deceitful and part of a coverup for the Patriots' taping scandal which had lasted for seven years.  We find that Patriots' coach Bill Belichick has been deceitful throughout the entire process only to see Goodell dole out a hypocritical and pathetic punishment to the Patriots and Belichick.

This is not a call for the Patriots to give up their past Super Bowl trophies, but a call for the matter to be investigated by an independent party without Goodell's interference and the proper punishment to be dealt to the offenders.  From the beginning of this "investigation" by the NFL, their haphazard execution along with highly illogical actions such as destroying the original evidence leads ImpeachGoodell.com to believe the following:

1.  There's a cover up being done by the league and Goodell.

OR

2.  Goodell is just blatantly stupid to think the destruction of the original tapes along with failing to interview Mr. Matt Walsh and others was a quality investigation.

Either way, the integrity of the game has been greatly damaged as a result of Spygate and instead of making an effort to restore some of that integrity and to help ensure that no other team will even think of cheating due to possible recourse, Goodell gave the Patriots and Belichick a "slap on the wrist."

ImpeachGoodell.com finds that Goodell's actions either make him crooked or stupid (or both) and the NFL, its owners, its players and most importantly its fans deserve a Commissioner who is of the utmost integrity and of high intelligence.

Please feel free to sign the guestbook below and give us your thoughts on NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Patriots violate other rules, Goodell gets out the broom
The supposedly "deranged" Matt Walsh is found telling the truth again, or at least he has somebody corroborate his claims http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3408450

Ross Tucker, a former offensive lineman who played for five teams in a seven-year NFL career, reiterated Thursday that he believes that New England used players on the injured reserve list in practices, which violates league rules

"I had heard the Patriots did this before I signed with them in 2005 and I saw it firsthand during my time there. I asked veteran receiver Troy Brown about it one time and he responded, 'Every team in the league does that.' I quickly let him know none of the three teams I played for previously had done so.

IMPEACHGOODELL.COM: It's obvious that the Patriots cheating expands to more than video taping and we at IMPEACHGOODELL.COM have to wonder what rule the Patriots actually comply with when the league is not watching.  Of course the Patriots have the same reasoning that they had when they got caught in Spygate, essentially excusing it as not really cheating because in this case they believe every team does it.

If this violation is proven to be true, then the Patriots should face a serious punishment.  It's akin to a murderer getting a slap on the wrist and then found to have assaulted somebody as well.  While the assault is not as bad as the murder, the prosecuting attorney would throw the book at the assailant.  In fact, Goodell has that precedent as the league has suspended players for multiple league violations, even if the latest violation was minor.

Unfortunately, we at IMPEACHGOODELL.COM have zero confidence in Commissioner Goodell investigating the matter properly and doling out the correct punishment.  Instead we at IMPEACH GOODELL.COM believe that unless the media pressures Goodell about the issue, we will never hear a thing about this violation again.

Fanboy Simmons to the Rescue
We at ImpeachGoodell.com welcome thoughts from Goodell's supporters.  Feel free to e-mail them to rhuntccu@yahoo.com.  Here's an excerpt from Bill Simmons' latest column.  It should be noted that Simmons is a Patriots fanboy, as if his latest doesn't show that.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/080522

"In retrospect, maybe it's a bad idea to put too much stock into the deranged claims of a former third-level video assistant who's hoping to get paid for interviews even though he's not comfortable showing what he "has."

IMPEACHGOODELL.COM: Which part of Matt Walsh's claims were deranged?  He never stated that he taped a walkthru and the Boston Herald later backed him up in that statement.  Other than that, he claimed he had tapes of him videotaping opposing team's signals back from 2000, which the Pats claimed he didn't, and Walsh showed that he did.

"If you had a sister who wanted to get engaged to someone who got fired from his low-ranking NFL job and moved to Hawaii to become an assistant golf pro, you would take her out to dinner, urge her not to take the plunge and make it clear you think she's ruining her life for a complete loser. But if that same complete loser claims to have evidence that can bring down an NFL team, we should all believe him for a few months, no questions asked."

IMPEACHGOODELL.COM: So anybody who gets fired from a job and then moves to Hawaii to work on a golf course (gee, what is he thinking???) means that he can't be telling the truth.  Of course, he was telling the truth.

But we at ImpeachGoodell.com can hope to put this in simple terms for Mr. Simmons.  Belichick lied the entire way through the process.  He claimed he didn't videotape the Jets game to begin with, then was caught in a lie.  He then claimed it only went back to a few games in 2006....another lie.  They claimed that Walsh didn't tape any signals...another lie.  Belichick claims he "couldn't pick Walsh out of a lineup", despite being next to Walsh in three different team photos.  And all of this and Belichick claims he "misunderstood the rule."

Belichick has made lie after lie and when they accused of Matt Walsh of not even taping the signals, that was found out to be a lie.  Who do we at ImpeachGoodell.com trust?  The only person that has told the truth, Mr. Matt Walsh.

"If you have a national column in which you're excoriating a sports team for cheating even though it already paid a severe penalty for what it did, and you're hinting more revelations are coming down the road, and then it's proven you were barking up the wrong tree ... you need to admit defeat and quit blowing the situation out of proportion. No, really."

IMPEACHGOODELL.COM: If you have a national column you're supposed to be writing from an objective point of view.  You need to stop writing about your fanboy dillusions about your favorite team and write about the FACTS of the case.  No, really.

Hypocrisies and Contradictions

ImpeachGoodell.com would like to take a look at Commissioner Goodell's hypocrisy in regards to his punishment of NFL players compared to a head coach in Bill Belichick.  One case of a player still under suspension is Adam "Pacman" Jones.  ImpeachGoodell.com is not going to claim Jones to be a saint, but to point out that the punishment Jones has received compared to what Belichick received is quite the head scratcher.

For all intents and purposes Jones was suspended for damaging the reputation of the league.  ImpeachGoodell.com understands the suspension and fine for that.  However, Bill Belichick clearly hurt the reputation of the league far more than Pacman Jones, Odell Thurman, Tank Johnson and any recently suspended player.

Of course, the Goodell/Belichick supporters will claim that Belichick didn't break the law.  But neither did Jones who has never been convicted of any crime after all of those arrests.  And whether we like it or not, this is a country where you are innocent until proven guilty.  Belichick was proven guility, Jones has not been proven guilty.

So you factor in those parts and be reminded that Commissioner Goodell stated that he holds coaches to a HIGHER standard than players and it tells you that Goodell is a hypocrite or a crook.

The Original Lie
awalsh.jpgawalsh.jpg
Here's something that should be noted after Roger Goodell's "investigation" of the Patriots after they were caught cheating against the Jets and were fined (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3018338)

"This episode represents a calculated and deliberate attempt to avoid long-standing rules designed to encourage fair play and promote honest competition on the playing field," Goodell said in a letter to the Patriots.

IMPEACHGOODELL.COM'S TAKE: This is the prime example that Commissioner Goodell considered the Pats video taping signals was a "one time incident" against the Jets on September 10, 2007.  Strangely, a little later on it was reported that the tapes handed over only dated back from a few games from 2006, yet Goodell went on to claim this as an "episode."  Eventually it has been proven that the Pats have been spying on teams since the year 2000.  They've also been reported by Walsh and former player Ross Tucker (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/ross_tucker/05/15/rules/index.html?eref=sircrcto) have players on Injured Reserve actually practicing.

Belichick claims he told Walsh that they've been spying on team's signals since 2000.  Yet, Goodell stated in a written letter that it was an "episode" of the Pats breaking the rules.  Either Belichick or Goodell are lying in this part of the fiasco.  ImpeachGoodell.com also finds it amazing that the Pats have not been punished for practicing players on injured reserve.

It's tough to give a game integrity when its commissioner does not appear to have any.

Belichick Doesn't Get It. And We're Not Talking Just About a Proper Punishment
2008-05-17
p1_bill.jpg

The latest from Coach Belichick shows exactly why he was not punished enough. (http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/10829490)

Some excerpts:

"There's not a lot of credibility (Walsh's accusations)," Belichick said in an interview broadcast on CBS Evening News.

and

Belichick denied telling Walsh to hide what he was doing. "You look at the tape. You see him filming the game," the coach told CBS. "You tell me how discrete it is."

and

"For him to talk about game-planning and strategy and play-calling and how he advised coordinators, it's embarrassing; it's absurd," Belichick said.

IMPEACHGOODELL.COM TAKE: We find it funny that Belichick can cry foul on Matt Walsh's credibility when Belichick has lied every single step of the way throughout the investigation.  This is the same man and organization that tried to shoot down Walsh's credibility about even shooting signals and was proven dead wrong this past week.

But what we at ImpeachGoodell.com find hypocritical is that it's quite apparent by taking in Bill Belichick's attitude that he does not feel what he did was wrong or at the very least that big of a deal.  Instead he would like to place the blame on the media and Matt Walsh.

Where this issue becomes hypocritical is Commissioner Goodell has suspended players for violations of the law and has stated on several occasions that these players must show him that they are sorry and realized the actions they made were wrong.  Yet, here's a coach clearly stating that he doesn't feel there was anything deceptive in him cheating heavily for the past seven years.  One could excuse this (to a degree) if Commissioner Goodell has not held coaches to the same high standards as the players.  However, this has not been the case as Goodell has stated the opposite with his suspension of Dallas Cowboys Quarterbacks Coach Wade Wilson in 2007.

If there's anything that's embarrassing and absurd, Mr. Belichick...it's you.
